Imphal, Oct 11: Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said today his government would deal firmly with any member of the militant Naga outfit NSCN(IM) entering the state violating the ground rules of the ceasefire agreement. The recent arrest and release of 13 NSCN(IM) members, who had entered the state with arms after violating the ground rules, was the "first and last warning to them," he told reporters here.

"In future the state government would deal firmly with any NSCN(IM) member or any insurgent arrested by the security personnel," Singh said.
The NSCN(IM) members had been arrested by Manipur Police on Monday and later released in the "larger interest of the country and north east in particular," he said.

Some "loopholes" may be found in the release of the NSCN(IM) members, but the state government was of the view that the ongoing peace talks between the Centre and NSCN(IM) should not be disturbed. It was because of this that the arrested ultras had been released, he said.
Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani had been informed about the arrest and release of the Naga militants. He had assured the Manipur government that the Centre would not allow violation of ground rules of the ceasefire agreement by NSCN(IM) members in future, Singh said.

Necessary instructions had been issued by the Centre to the in-charge of the ceasefire monitoring cell at Dimapur in Nagaland, the Chief Minister added.
