Pune, July 15: Mortal remains of former RSS chief Rajendra Singh alias Rajju Bhaiyya were consigned to flames here this evening in the presence of a galaxy of leaders including vice president Bhairo Singh Shekhawat and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who have risen from the organization's ranks. Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Bjp general secretary Pramod Mahajan were also present as the last rites were performed at the Vaikunth crematorium for the 84-year-old RSS leader who died yesterday of protracted illness.
Amidst chanting of "jai ram, jai jai ram", the body of Rajju Bhaiyya was taken in a flower-bedecked truck this evening from Navi Marathi Shala in Shaniwar Peth to the crematorium in a huge procession that wound its way through key points of the city.
K S Sudershan, who succeeded Rajju Bhaiya as RSS chief in a generational change of leadership, also sat on the truck near the body.
Earlier, thousands of people and RSS workers converged at Navi Marathi Shala to pay their last respect to Rajju Bhaiyya
