Jodhpur, May 27: Rajasthan High Court today granted further stay on the arrest of senior VHP leader Acharya Dharmendra in a case registered by the police for allegedly holding `trishul deeksha' and delivering inflammatory speech. Justice D N Joshi granted the stay on the arrest of Acharya Dharmendra, a member of the Marg Darshak Mandal of the VHP, till June 16 on his anticipatory bail application after hearing arguments from both sides.

Ordering the stay, Justice Joshi directed the Acharya not to deliver any speech which may go against the provision of Indian Penal Code or any other law during the stay period.
Acharya's counsel Hastimal Saraswat argued that a doctored cassette and a false report had been produced before the court regarding the speech delivered by the accused at a ‘trishul deeksha’ ceremony in Badnor town of Bhilawra district on March 1.

The case against the accused was registered after 22 days of the incident, he pointed out.

Saraswat charged that the state government had been acting with ill-intention against the VHP leader, which was evident from the fact that despite more than three government advocates available in Jodhpur High Court, a senior advocate had been sent from Jaipur to argue the case.

Special public prosecutor S R Bajwa opposed the stay on the ground that the charges against the accused were grave.
Police had registered a case under Sections 153-a and 295 of the Indian Penal Code against the VHP leader in Badnor town of the district.
