London, May 01: England all-rounder Paul Collingwood looks set to miss one-day matches in June after undergoing shoulder surgery. The Durham player dislocated his left shoulder when he dived to the ground to stop the ball during a one-day friendly against Lancashire. The 26-year-old has now undergone keyhole surgery and there were fears he could be out for six months, signalling the end of his season.
But Durham coach Martyn Moxon believes he is more likely to be out of action for up to three months.
England's one-day team face Pakistan in the NatWest Challenge beginning on June 17, before they take part in the triangular series against Zimbabwe and South Africa in the same month. Michael Vaughan, who is expected to be confirmed as captain of the one-day side on Tuesday, was already facing a selection headache.
World Cup regulars Nick Knight, Andy Caddick, Alec Stewart and Nasser Hussain have all retired from international one-day cricket while Collingwood's fellow all-rounder Craig White is also injured. Collingwood has established himself as a key member of England's one-day side since making his debut in 2001 and was hoping to stake a claim for a Test place this summer.
In 38 one-day appearances so far, he has scored 874 runs, including a century against Sri Lanka, and taken 16 wickets.
