New Delhi, June 12: Government has initiated several steps to make India a major cruise destination within three years, shipping minister Shatrughan Sinha said. However, synergy between the various agencies of the Central and state governments was required to promote cruise tourism which has high potential in generating income and employment, Sinha said at a meeting held to review the progress made in providing cruise facilities at various ports on the west coast of the country.

He directed setting up of a committee for simplification of rules and procedures to increase cruise tourism, an official release said today.
