Amethi, Aug 05: Congress workers led by AICC president Sonia Gandhi`s `representative` K L Sharma today staged a demonstration and courted arrest demanding action against the guilty in the controversial Taj heritage corridor project.

Hundreds of party workers from all the 16 blocks of Gandhi's constituency gathered at the party office here and marched to the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) where they staged a demonstration.
The protestors submitted to the SDM a memorandum addressed to Governor Vishnu Kant Shatri before courting arrest. They were later released.
The memorandum besides asking for stern action against the guilty in the Taj corridor controversy, also demanded improvement in power supply and repair of roads in the district.
