Sonia asked to nominate Rajasthan CLP leader
Jaipur, Dec 14: The newly elected Congress MLAs in Rajasthan held a meeting here today and authorised party president Sonia Gandhi to nominate the legislative party leader.
Jaipur, Dec 14: The newly elected Congress MLAs in Rajasthan held a meeting here today and authorised party president Sonia Gandhi to nominate the legislative party leader.
At the meeting, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot owned the responsibility the party`s defeat in the assembly elections, Vohra said.
AICC observer Moti Lal Vohra told reporters that there was no dispute among the 55 MLAs who attended the hour-long meeting as they unanimously expressed confidence in Gandhi`s leadership and left it to her to announce any name for CLP leadership.
No particular name was floated for the CLP leadership nor any dissention crept during the meeting, he said adding that a one line resolution was adopted by the members asking Gandhi to nominate their leader.
Soni denied there was any voice against the PCC president Girija Vyas.
One MLA Mahipal Yadav could not attend the meeting, she said. Congress has secured 56 of the 200 assembly seats.
Some MLAs, including B D Kalla, Daljit Singh, Shiv Charan Mathur, Jagannath Pahdia and C P Joshi told reporters that they believed in the party high command`s decision and there was no question of any difference of opinion on the matter. Bureau Report
