Los Angeles: Angelina Jolie Pitt's new drama "By the Sea", will have its world premiere as the opening night film at AFI Festival.

The movie will kickstart the festival on November 5.


Jolie, who has also directed the movie, stars opposite husband Brad Pitt in the marital drama about a couple visiting a seaside town in France during the 1970s who face a crisis in their marriage, said the Hollywood Reporter.


The cast also includes Melanie Laurent, Melvil Poupaud, Niels Arestrup and Richard Bohringer.


"AFI has long supported the boldness and experimentation that accompanies provocative cinema," Jolie said.


"As a filmmaker, and on behalf of our cast and crew, I am honored to launch the film at the opening night gala for AFI Fest."


The universal Pictures movie is set to release on November 13.
