Oyelowo's latest role in hostage drama "Captive" is a far cry from his inspirational portrayal of Dr Martin Luther King Jr in "Selma", reported Digital Spy.

The 39-year-old actor plays accused rapist Brian Nichols in a story based on real events documented in the non-fiction book An Unlikely Angel.

Nichols went on a killing spree while escaping a courthouse during his rape trial, and took a hostage in the form of a young single mother (Kate Mara).

Directed by Jerry Jameson, "Captive" documents a police manhunt for Nichols as his hostage simply tries to stay alive.

Oyelowo's wife Jessica Oyelowo, Michael K Williams and Mimi Rogers also star in "Captive".
