Johannesburg: Idris Elba, who has been backed by countless famous faces to become the next Bond, said that media speculations have killed the chances of him getting the character.

The 'Luther' actor said while addressing at London's British Film Institute that if there was a chance of him getting Bond then it's gone as the excessive rumours started to eat itself, News24.com reported.


The 42-year-old actor blamed the current Bond,Daniel Craig, who is eventually retiring, for sparking the suggestions, as 4 years ago Craig set the rumor off that Elba would be a great Bond.


Elba also explained that the rumour that he was in talks with the Bond producers was false as it never happened.
