“Ali is not part of the trailer, but chopping off his role completely isn't possible since he is crucial to the narration. His fate will be decided after the release of ADHM," Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.

After the Uri terror attack, the IMPPA had urged its members not to work with Pakistani artists or technicians. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena led by Raj Thackeray had threatened to 'beaut up' those who would engage with talent from the other side of the border.

Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' had drawn flak for having Pakistani actor Fawad Khan on board. And hence, to avoid controversy, makers of Dear Zindagi directed by Gauri Shinde may have decided to rework their promotion strategy.

The film, produced by Gauri Khan, Karan Johar and R Balki under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Hope Productions respectively, also stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Kunal Kapoor, and Angad Bedi.
