Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra starrer `Bajirao Mastani` may be banned in Pakistan.

Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali would have least expected this to happen! His magnum opus Bajirao Mastani featuring Ranveer Singh as Bajirao, Deepika Padukone as Mastani and Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, is facing stiff opposition not just in India, but in Pakistan too.

However, the film is slated to release in India as per schedule on December 18.

The Censor Board in Pakistan is yet to clear the film. According to a report in The Express Tribune, Mobasher Hasan, chairman of the CBFC said, “Firstly, the film is in Hindi and our ordinance does not allow Hindi films to be screened,” he said.

“Secondly, it is a historical drama that is indirectly against Islam and Muslims,” he further added.

It was earlier believed that the Censor issues would crop because of a few intimate and action scenes, but that isn’t the actual reason.

Interestingly, the Punjab and Sindh censor boards have cleared the film.

A final decision is yet to be taken by the main board.
