London: Ridley Scott's latest biblical epic 'Exodus: Gods and Kings,' has topped the weekend box office with 24.5 million dollars on its debut weekend.

The film, which stars Christian Bale as Moses along with Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver and Sir Ben Kingsley, overtook the third installment of 'The Hunger Games', following three weeks at number one, but has also received mixed reviews, reportedly.


'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part One' was placed at number two with 13.2 million dollars, followed by 'The Penguins of Madagascar' with 7.3 million dollar earning.


Awards contenders 'Wild' and Stephen Hawking biopic 'The Theory of Everything', both took spots in the top 10.
