There were some reports that the concert was postponed due to protests by anti-Sri Lanka groups but the concert organisers have cited the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu as the reason for delay.

"We are deeply saddened to inform you that we are forced to postpone the A R Rahman - Live in Concert event, which was scheduled for the 23rd of April 2016 to a later date due to the Indian Elections that are scheduled," posted the official page of the "AR Rahman-Live in Concert" event.

"We had planned a line up of more than 14 impressive artistes to perform on the AR Rahman Live in Concert Tour to make the night a phenomenal musical experience for you, and WE WILL!" the post read.

The organisers added they will reschedule the event as soon as possible. "Please do not worry about the event, we will definitely organize this event as soon as we obtain the confirmation of our performing artistes!"
