New Delhi: Filmmaker Omung Kumar's upcoming biopic 'Sarbjit' is based on the real-life incident where an Indian farmer named Sarabjit Singh was wrongly taken as a spy by Pakistani authorities. Sarabjit was sentenced to life imprisonment there, and massive protests in the country here sought his release.

The film stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing Sarabjit's elder sister Dalbir Kaur whereas Randeep Hooda will be seen as the lead. Rich Chadha plays Randeep's wife in the biopic. Recently, the first song of the movie titled 'Salamat' was released, which shows the love between Sarbjit and his wife.


Also, it captures the emotional turmoil his family goes through all these years of seeking justice.


The movie will hit the screens on May 20, 2016.
