Patna, July 05: Criticising NDA government's indecisiveness over sending Indian troops on a peace-keeping mission to Iraq, RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav today said that his party was opposed to deployment of the Indian Army in that country under US pressure.
Yadav criticised Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for not making the Indian position clear on the US request for committing armed forces for deployment in Iraq, saying any measure taken for sending the Indian Army to Iraq without a clear UN mandate is unacceptable.
He was addressing a gathering of party workers here to mark the seventh foundation day of the RJD. ''Prime Minister's indecisiveness on this crucial issue is compounding the confusion over the government's stand on dispatching our troops on a peace-keeping mission to Iraq,'' Yadav said and added, ''We will oppose any move to send even a single jawan to Iraq unless it is under the UN aegis.” Bureau Report
