Floods, heavy rains kill 92 in central and southern Vietnam

At least 22 people were killed by floods and landslides
in the central province of Hatinh, said Bui Hong Phong of the
provincial floods and storms control bureau.
A tropical depression dumped 20 inches of rain in the province over the past four days, flooding more than 2, 600 homes, he said.
In neighboring NGHE an province, three people drowned in high waters, a provincial floods and storms control bureau official said.
The national hydro meteorology center said more rain is expected in the area in coming days.

The central region had suffered a severe drought until
recently.
In Vietnam's southern Mekong delta, six more people were
reported dead, bringing the total number killed by seasonal
floods in the region to 67, most of them children, the Lao
Dong (Labor) news paper reported Saturday.
Vietnam is prone to floods and storms, which kill
hundreds of people every year.
