Patna, June 27: The Samata Party today sought the removal of minister of state for health Akhilesh Singh for his alleged links with criminal gangs operating in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand. As soon as the Bihar assembly met for the day, Samata members led by its legislature party leader Upendra Kushwaha trooped into the well of the House demanding dismissal of Akhilesh Singh for his alleged links with a history-sheeter Vikash Kumar Singh, who was recently arrested by Jharkhand police in Ranchi.

They, however, returned to their seats on the request of Speaker Sadanand Singh.

The Samata leaders again tried to raise the issue during Zero Hour but the Speaker refused them permission saying they should first give in writing before raising such issues.

Earlier, the Samata legislators raised anti-government slogans at the main entrance of the state assembly for not dismissing the minister for his alleged nexus with criminal gangs.

Kushwaha told reporters that the minister should not only be sacked but legal action should also be initiated against him for offering bribe to Ranchi police to release the notorious criminal.
