“In a series of bomb attacks, Maoist rebels targeted the village home of the Nepalese government chief negotiator at the abortive peace talks with the ultras and houses of two ruling Nepalese Congress leaders,” officials said on Monday.
The Maoists hurled a powerful bomb at the house of minister for Housing and Physical works Chirajnubi Wagle at Jutpani village development committee in Chitawan district on Sunday evening, according to officials.
The explosion completely destroyed the house of the minister who had led the government side at the talks. Wagle was not at the house at the time of the attack.
“Maoists also threw a petrol bomb on Sunday night at the house of ruling Nepalese Congress party lawmaker Ekraj Ranabhat, at Pithuwa village in Chitawan district,” the officials said.
Another bomb was hurled on the residence of Nepali Congress Banke district president Krishna Man Shrestha in Udrapur village on Sunday night which destroyed the house compeletely.
Two Maoist rebels were killed in an operation launched by security forces in Kailali district, according to the defence ministry. The security forces also arrested 19 suspected terrorists from the spot. Bureau Report
