Imam of New Delhi's historic Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Shah Bukhari on Wednesday met Pakistan military ruler General Parvez Musharraf and discussed issues of mutual interest. Imam Bukhari, who arrived in Lahore on Monday ostensibly to interact with the Pakistan government and Islamic leaders on Kashmir, discussed issues of mutual interest with Gen Musharraf, an official release said. Though the Imam was in Islamabad at the invitation of some religious leaders, his visit in connection with diplomatic initiatives between the two countries was severely criticised by Pakistan based organisations like the Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba who said that the Imam should confine himself to providing leadership to Indian Muslims. The track-II diplomacy being followed by Imam was also criticised by Hizb leader Sayed Salahuddin, who said that he has no faith in diplomatic initiatives to resolve the Kashmir issue.
