Imphal, Oct 07: Thirteen senior members of the banned NSCN (I-M) have been arrested by Manipur police at Tulibari in Senapati district, 35 km from here, official sources said today. The NSCN (I-M) activists were proceeding to Tamenglong district through Imphal-Tamenglong road to attend a meeting on 'political awareness' tomorrow when police arrested them while frisking passers-by in the area yesterday. One AK-56 rifle and an M-20 pistol were recovered from their possession, the sources said. The arrested NSCN (I-M) cadres included its Home Secretary A K Lungalang, Deputy Secretary Publicity K Chawang and senior member David Pere. Official sources said all the 13 NSCN (I-M) cadres were lodged at Imphal police station.
Meanwhile, Central Administrative Officer of NSCN (I-M) (Zeliangrong Region) M K Winning has condemned the arrests.
