Clever Momin, who joined the outfit in 1995 and was a member of its 'military' wing, surrendered before the West Garo hills district police on Tuesday without any arms, district SP S S Yadav told a news agency over phone from Tura today.
The surrendered militant got his training in Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh and was on the wanted list of the Assam police, he said.
The Meghalaya police were interrogating the ultra.
