Jamshedpur, Sept 05: The drama is all set to unfold as the three-day 43rd Inter-state athletics meet gets underway at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, here on Friday. Even though Anju Bobby George, Bobby Aloysius and KM Beenamol are not here, there is still plenty to write home about.
Anju, the World Championship bronze medallist, is in the European circuit, high-jumper Bobby is in England, while quarter-miler Beenamol is recovering from a fractured foot.

The championship will see Asian Games gold medallist Sunita Rani making her first appearance in major meet, Bahadur Singh also coming back after a lay-off and of course the rivalry of AP's JJ Shobha and Soma Biswas of Bengal. While Sunita has not arrived yet, she is likely to participate since the championship is a qualifier for the Asian Track and Field meet to be held in Manila from September 20.

The opening day has 14 gold medals up for grabs. In the 100 metre men's final Amit Saha is sure get the gold as his bete-noirs Anand Menzes of Maharshtra and Delhi's Anil Kumar have decided to skip the meet. Bureau Report
