Israeli troops on Thursday stormed the Ramallah house of Marwan Barghuti, the West Bank head of Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction, but failed to find the man seen as one of the most vocal spokesmen of the uprising, his wife Ruba said. “Around 25 Israeli soldiers are now inside the house and they are searching it. They said they could be staying for up to five days,” Ruba said. She said that her husband does not usually sleep at home and was not there when the troops entered the house, where she was trapped with her four children and Barghuti's brother and wife, who are visiting from Saudi Arabia. According to Ruba Barghuti the soldiers also climbed to the roof of the building where they put up sandbags, appearing to be preparing for a long haul. Bureau Report
