Pondicherry, June 30: Employees of the Oulgaret municipality staged a road block after the Municipal Commissioner was assaulted by some persons for allegedly refusing to attest a certificate today. The employees blocked the Villian road near their office demanding arrest of the assailants who inflicted injuries on the commissioner K Nagalingam who was rushed to the hospital, police said.
Though the police had arrested one of the two assailants who they claimed had attacked the commissioner, the employees said that there were four assailants.
The employees told the police officials and the additional district magistrate, who rushed to the spot to pacify and request the protesters to lift the road block that they feared such attacks could occur to them also.
The employees dispersed with a condition that a case should be filed against the attackers and a copy of the FIR be given to them or else they would again launch road block later in the day.
