The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked South African Richard Pybus to reach Pakistan by next week and take charge of the team as chief coach to prepare the national squad for the short series against Sri Lanka and the upcoming triangular tourney in Sharjah from October 26.
The PCB has called up Pybus since the Sharjah event was confirmed, even if the home series against Sri Lanka did not materialise. Pybus, who was appointed by the PCB as senior team coach for the home series against New Zealand and the Sharjah tournament, left for his home country South Africa few days after the September 11 air strikes in New York and Washington.
In anticipation of a series against Sri Lanka, the PCB was planning to hold a short training camp from October 10, the news reported on Friday.
The paper said chances were bright that Sri Lanka would tour Pakistan for a three-match one-day series, tentatively scheduled between October 15-20 at Karachi and Lahore. The players who were named in the squad for the one-day series against New Zealand would be invited to the camp.
