New Delhi, Nov 12: Seat-sharing talks between Congress and the third front in Delhi have broken down with the former refusing to offer ten out of 70 Delhi Assembly seats demanded by it in the coming elections. Announcing the front's second list of 15 candidates at a press conference here today, its chairman for Delhi Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said Congress was insisting that it would not sacrifice more than four seats.

"Since the front itself comprises parties like NCP, Lok Janshakti Party, RPI, Samajwadi Janata Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal and Janata Party, we had claimed six seats. Besides, we claimed two seats for left parties and one each for Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal, taking the total to ten," he said. Since Congress did not accept the demand, the "talks have broken down", Bidhuri said adding that it was Congress which had taken the initiative. "Congress should still reconsider its decision," he said.

He said the front contemplated to constitute a Secular Democratic Alliance (SDA) on the lines of NDA for contesting the elections together, but it could not materialise.

He, however, said the front would leave three seats for the left parties, though they would not be a part of the front. "We will support the left parties during campaign," he said and added that the left parties would also reciprocate. The front had released names of candidates for 33 seats in the first list and one more list of 19 candidates would be announced tomorrow.
