Lucknow, May 16: Amid allegations that the investigations into the Madhumita Shukla murder case was moving at a snail`s pace, the district police maintained a stoic silence on its efforts to nab the key accused in the crime. Sources said the Mumbai police might be asked to provide details of the two mobile SIM cards of Mumbai service providers which were reportedly recovered from the house of the deceased. The opposition alleged that the police was going slow due to the involvement of a minister in the Mayawati government. While the minister denied involvement, the Chief Minister had asserted that the guilty would not be spared and the probe would remain impartial.
Senior police officials, refuted allegations that telephone diaries of Ms Shukla were missing from police custody and efforts were made to distort the contents of her daily diary.

Meanwhile, the Lucknow police admitted that it was yet to send her foetus sample for DNA test to Hyderabad even after six days of the sensational murder.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Lucknow) Anil Aggarwal said the foetus sample was kept at a safe place in the Medical University. He, however, did not confirm any date for sending the sample for the test. He claimed that the investigations into the case was continuing at a reasonable pace and ``something might crop up very soon``.

Mr Aggarwal, however, denied the allegations of some opposition parties that the evidences were being destroyed by the police. ``There is no question of doing so as the police team was working keeping in mind the sensentivity of the case,`` he said.
