New Delhi, Dec 01: BJP today accused Congress of pursuing a "double faced" policy in Gujarat and asked it to come clear on its stand on the state ahead of the December 12 elections.
"The Congress is pursuing a double-faced policy supporting minorities on the one hand and the party president Sonia Gandhi launching her party`s election campaign from the Ambaji Temple. The party is also taking the help of 20 `saints` in its campaign," party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters here.
"It is the Congress which is raising the Godhra issue and if they continue to do so, we too would have to do so. It is indulging in political dishonesty by releasing one manifesto in English which is totally different from the one in Gujarati released for the people of the state. What is this dual stand of the party. Let it come clear on its stand on Gujarat," he said. Referring to BJP election manifesto released today in Gujarat by chief minister narendra modi, he said it has not made a single reference to Godhra whereas it was the Congress which in one manifesto stated that it would bring out a white paper on Godhra and set up special courts to try those guilty of post-Godhra riots.
Malhotra also accused Congress states of not implementing Pota and not keeping a check on the activities of madrasas which have been indulging in anti-national activities.
Malhotra hit out at Congress-ruled states of for opposing the issue of multi-purpose identity cards saying this would lead to inflow of illegal immigrants into the country and only create more problems.
