Hyderabad, Feb 14: Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi and superstar Nagarjuna have been selected for the Best Actor award and 'Manmadhudu' as the Best Feature Film for the Golden Nandi Award of the Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Film Awards for 2002. While Chiranjeevi won the award for playing a philanthropist-turned anti-factional character in the blockbuster 'Indra', Nagarjuna would be honoured for his role in the family entertainer 'Santosham.' Kum Kalyani has been adjudged the Best Actress for her role in the family entertainer 'Ounu Valliddaru Ishta Paddaru' in which she paired as the 'invisible tenant' with Ravi Teja, who would share the special jury award, along with NTR junior and Mahesh Babu, for his role in 'Khadgam'. Khadgam got a total of five awards, 'Takkari Donga', a remake of the Hollywood box-office hit of '70s 'Magnificent Seven', got four. Nagarjuna Akkineni, the producer of 'Manmadhudu', would receive the Golden Nandi Award with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a commendation certificate. 'Khadgam', a film which evoked controversy with the BJP protesting against certain dialogues in the film, has been selected for the Sarojini Naidu Award for the Best Feature Film on National Integration, Communal Harmony, Uplift of Depressed Classes, and Inter-Regional Integration. The film's producer S Madhu Murali would get a Golden Nandi award and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and commendation certificate, while director Krishna Vamsi would get a Copper Nandi with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a commendation certificate. Krishna Vamsi has also been selected as the Best Director for the Sri K V Reddy Award for 'Khadgam', which entitles a Silver Nandi, a gold medal, and a cash prize of Rs 10,000, besides a commendation certificate. The awards would be presented by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here on February 18, Andhra Pradesh State Films, Television and Theatre Development Corporation Chairman D V S Raju told reporters here.
