A state of high alert has been sounded across Uttar Pradesh on the eve of Independence Day and security beefed up at all strategic installations in the wake of killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant and triggering of a blast in a train near Muradnagar railway station in Ghaziabad that claimed one life and left 35 injured. Police also arrested two militants of the outfit and foiled an attempt to trigger blasts at Ayodhya and Lucknow. Quick response teams and small commandos besides police and PAC in strength have been deployed at all the vital installations in different places of the state to avoid any untoward incident, the sources said.
Sensitive places, including Raj Bhawan and Vidhan Sabha areas, have been sanitised and a strict vigil was being maintained in the state in view of intelligence reports of terrorists' designs to create disturbances. Bureau Report
