London, Nov 14: Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has insisted that he will not pay to save his Formula One career, it was reported.
London, Nov 14: Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve has insisted that he will not pay to save his Formula One career, it was reported.
The Autosport magazine said last week that Villeneuve was working on a three-million-pound package to secure a seat with Jaguar as Mark Webber's teammate for the 2004 season.
But a spokeswoman for Villeneuve told Autosport: "Jacques has no interest in buying a ride in Formula One. Therefore the stories in the Canadian media are incorrect."
Villeneuve, the 1997 world champion, lost his drive with the BAR-Honda team at the end of last season and was replaced by Japan's Takuma Sato.
McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz of Austria remains the favourite for the second Jaguar seat.euve
