New Delhi, Oct 27: The production of primary zinc by Hindustan Zinc Ltd and Binani Industries Ltd increased 11.84 per cent to 1,26,760 tonne in April-September, 2003 as against 1,13,342 tonne during the same period last year. The production in the first six month of current fiscal was slightly less than the half-yearly production target of 1,28,189 tonne, an official release said.
HZL, where the government has 49.92 per cent equity, produced 1,11,614 tonne during the six-month review period while the private sector BIL produced 15,146 tonne.
During September 2003, total production by both the companies was 21,040 tonne against a target of 21,056 tonne.
Out of the monthly production, HZL produced 18,328 tonne and BIL 2,712 tonne.
HZL produced 17,415 tonne of lead during the first half of this financial year.
It produced 2,434 tonne of lead during September, 2003 as against a target of 3,016 tonne.
