Chennai, Aug 27: Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy today demanded imposition of President's rule in Uttar Pradesh and fresh elections as it would solve the current political crisis in the state. He also congratulated the BSP leader Mayawati for pulling out of the BJP alliance as the party had "betrayed" her. Talking to reporters here, Swamy said he would be visiting Lucknow on August 31 to assess the situation. He said he was in touch with 'secular, patriotic and non-communist' parties to float a new front for the next Lok Sabha polls under the leadership of Chandrashekhar. The front would emerge by the end of the year, he said. Condemning the Mumbai bomb blasts, he held the 'Islamic Fundemnetalist Groups' responsible for it.

He said the Muslim community should isolate 'terrorist' forces in the community and should extend 'active co-operation' to fight terrorism with full vigour.
