Muzaffarnagar, June 14: The 23 Nepali girls rescued from the Apollo circus recently were handed over to the officials of the Nepali embassy here today, official sources said. The girls, along with 26 others, who were rescued following a compliant of their sexual harassment, were handed over to the embassy staff to be reunited with their family members in their native country following court orders, sources said.
The girls were earlier kept in the women's protection home in Chutmalpur after their parents failed to turn up in the court to take their custody, sources added.
A case of sexual harassment has also been lodged against the circus company owners but no one has been arrested so far, sources said adding that proceedings to attach the property of the owners has also been initiated.
