Former West Indies cricket captain Jimmy Adams and fastbowler Franklyn Rose are unlikely to play for the Caribbean team in its home series against India and New Zealand next year, cricket officials said.
Players must participate in the domestic Caribbean season to be selected for West Indies test teams, but the two have said they will likely miss regional tournaments in October and January because they are to play for teams in South Africa, Jamaica Cricket Board official Brian Breese said on Wednesday. They have said that they will be playing state and provincial cricket in South Africa and are likely to miss both seasons, Breese said. On the face of it looks as if they are both out.
Adams and rose are now in England, where they are playing league cricket. Adams, replaced as captain by Carl Hooper after the West Indies' 0-5 defeat to Australia earlier this year, is to captain free state in the South Africa super sports tournament in November.
