Lucknow, Nov 09: Independent Rajya Sabha candidate Suresh Nanda withdrew his nomination today. He was being backed for the Upper House seat by BJP dissident MLAs. Earlier in the day, a scuffle broke out as he tried to file his nomination papers.
"I am withdrawing from the contest and the replies submitted by me to objections raised over my nominations to the Returning Officer have become irrelevant," he said. MLAs from others parties turned violent as Nanda arrived with his supporters. Nanda alleged that MLAs blocked his way and pushed him around. Bureau Report
