Sonipat, Oct 28: Haryana Pradesh Janata Dal (U) president Ved Parkash Vidrohi today alleged that despite a minimum support price fixed by the union government, both the Central and state governments had failed to provide remunerative price to farmers in the state for their produce.
"In spite of the minimum support price (MSP) of bajra and paddy by the union government, farmers have been facing a lot of hardships in selling their produce and getting remunerative price for it," Vidrohi said in a statement.
He accused Chief Minister, Om Parkash Chautala, of making false promises and alleged that he had always adopted oppressive measures to curb lawful activities of farmers.
"Whenever any farmer leader opposed Chautala's anti-farmer policies, he was implicated in false criminal cases," Vidrohi alleged.
Citing the example of BKU leader, Ghasi Ram Nain, he said that Nain had been held under Pota for raising the voice against the "misrule" of Chautala.
Vidrohi also blamed the Chautala government for not making arrangements for the purchase of paddy and bajra from the mandis of the state.
He alleged that there had been persistent shortage of gunny bags and official procurement agencies had also failed to lift the procured stock of paddy and bajra from the markets.
