New Delhi, July 23: The Planning Commission has admitted that there was an error in country's map published on the cover of the 10th five-year plan. The map shows Pakistan occupied Kashmir as part of Pakistan.
On the cover of all three volumes of the plan, the Line of Control had been drawn as the International Border and the portion of Ladakh known as Aksai Chin was shown to be Chinese territory.
Retired bureaucrat Ashok Mehta, who detected the mistake, filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court seeking an inquiry into the matter.
However, the Delhi HC today dismissed the petition filed by a former bureaucrat seeking an inquiry into matter after additional solicitor general K K Sud said the errors were detected on April 24, 2003 before the petitioner informed the authorities, and all unsold copies were withdrawn. The petitioner, through his advocate, H S Bhullar, alleged that the maps were not in conformity with the maps of India as published by the surveyor of India.
The petitioner had pointed out the specific inaccuracies in the aforesaid maps pertaining to the Line of Control between J&K and Pakistan.
