New Delhi, May 09: Playing its watchdog role once again, the Election Commission today demanded action against the CPI-M leader Biman Bose for allegedly intimidating EC observers in West Bengal.
Bose had apparently asked his party workers to stop EC observers from overstepping their brief, a statement viewed by the Commission as a serious violation of election rules.

The EC says that Bose incited his party workers to create disturbance and prevent election observers from performing their legitimate duty in the state.
But what is even more worrying for the CPI-M is the Commission's threat to withdraw its election symbol and even countermand elections in West Bengal if party workers interfere with the poll process.
Bose, however, denies the charges against him saying he never asked his party workers to hamper the work being done by Election Commission observers.
But he maintains that some EC observers are intervening on behalf of the opposition.
