Lucknow, June 27: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has stayed the transfer of four CB-CID officials, who were penalised for their alleged laxity in handling the Madhumita Shukla murder case. The bench yesterday also asked the state government to file a counter affidavit indicating if any inquiry was ordered before initiating action against them. The officials were transferred by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on June 18, after which they moved the court saying they were not given a chance to defend themselves before penal action was taken against them.
