The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has agreed to send its national team to play three limited-over internationals in Pakistan later this month, the cricket board's media spokesman said on Wednesday.

“The cricket board's interim committee has approved the tour in principle,” said Niresh Eliatamby, the board's media manager.
He said the final decision on the tour would be taken after discussions with the sports and foreign affairs ministries.
Local newspapers reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board had invited Sri Lanka after New Zealand called off its tour due to heightened security concerns over the Sept.11 terrorist attacks in the United States.
New Zealand cricket recalled the black caps, who were headed for Pakistan, from Singapore over safety concerns arising from military buildup around Pakistan's neighbour Afghanistan.
The Pakistan board was facing an acute financial problem following the cancellation of the one-day and test series against New Zealand. The PCB also lost money when India refused to participate in the Asian test championship in August and did not play the match against Pakistan in Lahore.
