Raipur, July 20: Taking strong exception to Congress' remarks questioning Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's competence to lead the nation because of his age, BJP today said it reflected the "foreign psyche" of the main opposition.
In a statement here party general secretary Pramod Mahajan said Indian culture respected age, wisdom, experience and statesmanship and the remarks of Congress exposed its mindset.
Mahajan also took the opportunity to take a dig on Sonia Gandhi saying the party has not only imposed on itself a "reader" of foreign origin but also foreign values.
Congress spokesman Jaipal Reddy had yesterday questioned "ageing octogenarian" Vajpayee's competence to lead the nation saying his "advancing years and sinking health need more time for rest".
