Patna, Aug 08: A day after a sessions court rejected the bail plea of RJD MP Shahabuddin, the execution of another arrest warrant has been ordered in a separate case being probed by the CID. The case lodged at Siwan 'mufassil' police station by the then sub-divisional police officer (Sadar), Siwan, Sanjeev Kumar, accused Shahabuddin and his men of preventing a police team from arresting Thakur Manoj Kumar alias Pappu, wanted in two cases.
The case charges the MP and his men with abusing and assaulting the SDPO and opening fire to intimidate him.
Bihar Director General of Police, D P Ojha, who reviewed the cases pending against Shahbuddin, asked the investigating officer of this case to arrest all the accused named in the FIR, including the MP, submit chargesheets against them without delay and move the court concerned for warrant to attach their property if they were found absconding. Others accused in this case are Mohammad Reyazuddin, Rustam Khan, Satyendra Tiwary, Thakur Manoj Rana alias Pappu, Guddu Singh and Manoj Singh.
The FIR said the complainant on March 15, 2001, got information that Manoj Kumar was spotted at the Daroga Prasad Rai College.
When the SDPO went there to arrest him, Shahabuddin and his men appeared on the scene and prevented him from arresting Kumar. They not only used abusive language but the MP also caught the SDPO by his collar and pushed him. Subsequently, they also fired at the police officer to scare him, the FIR stated.
A Siwan court had yesterday rejected the anticipatory bail application of Shahabuddin in connection with a kidnapping case. Bureau Report
