Indefinite terror alert sounded in America

US Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge said on Friday the high level of alert posted by the government amid fears of a new wave of terror attacks on US soil would remain in force "indefinitely."
The Federal government warned on Monday of a possibility that terror cells could be plotting new attacks within the next week, to follow up the carnage at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11. "We are going to keep everybody on the Monday alert, that attentiveness, indefinitely," Ridge told reporters at the White House.
Ridge and FBI director Robert Mueller used the briefing to appeal for more information from Americans into the September 11 attacks and the anthrax scare, which has further jolted an already-jittery America.
"Be alert, go about the business of being in America," Ridge said, asking US citizens to be extra vigilant while refusing to allow terrorists to disrupt the fabric of their lives. Bureau Report
