New Delhi, Nov 12: BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate Madan Lal Khurana, a former minister and a former deputy Speaker were among 159 candidates who filed their nomination papers for the December one delhi assembly polls today. Khurana filed his papers from his traditional Moti Nagar constituency in presence of party president M Venkaiah Naidu and several other senior leaders, while Former Industries Minister H S Balli filed his nomination papers from Hari Nagar constituency. Alok Kumar, former deputy Speaker of the assembly, was another prominent BJP leader to file his papers.
Poonam Azad, wife of cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad who is likely to contest against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from her Gole Market constituency, also filed her papers as only two days were left for filing of nominations.
Altogether 51 nominees of BJP filed their papers today along with 24 from BSP, four from CPM, two from other parties and 78 Independents.


With today's nominations, the tally has risen to 227 with 68 having filed their papers till yesterday.
