Mumbai, July 22: adopting an aggressive stance over the mysterious death of a dalit youth in police custody, Shiv Sena-BJP opposition combine today demanded that an adjournment notice in this regard be admitted in the state assembly. The matter was raised in the house by Ashish Jaiswal (Sena) soon after the Question Hour.

Jaiswal said that a dalit youth has died in mysterious circumstances in police custody at Ramtek and the house should take up the matter through an adjournment notice.

However, Speaker Arun Gujrathi ruled that he could admit an adjournment notice only on a day when the house was slated to deliberate over supplementary demands.
But BJP leader Gopianth Munde stated that the matter was of grave nature and the house should take up the adjournment notice suspending the prevailing rules in the house.

PWP member Ganpatrao Deshmukh and Dattaji Nalavade (Sena) stated that the house should take up the matter even after discussing the supplementary demands.

Intervening in the discussion, minister of state for home Kripashankar Singh refuted opposition's claim that instances of attacks on Dalits were on the rise. About the Ramtek incident, the minister said it was a suicide.
The Speaker then suggested that he would decide about admitting the adjournment notice after ascertaining the facts of the incident.
