All doubts relating to Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly`s fitness were finally dispelled after an x-ray on Saturday revealed there was no fracture in his right knee. Ganguly had sustained the injury when he was hit by a fast delivery off South African paceman Mornantau Hayward in the first test at Bloemfontein. The persistent swelling on the knee has raised doubts about a possible fracture.
But the skipper looked almost certain to play the four-day practice match against South Africa `A` on Saturday after the tests showed there was a just a blood clot and no fracture. The team went for practice at the Buffalo Park this afternoon but the weather has all but ruled out any worthwhile nets. It has rained intermittently here at this coastal town in the last two days and unless there is some improvement in the weather, it would be like chatsworth revisited, the venue for the build-up game to the first test which was completely washed out.
