Jammu, July 29: Former India skipper and coach Kapil Dev has asked the cricket board to chalk out special programmes to give a boost to the game in militancy hit Jammu and Kashmir.

"I will request the BCCI to prepare some special programmes so as to give a boost to cricketers from the state, who have suffered a lot due to turmoil in J and K during the last 13 years," Kapil said on the sidelines of the Jammu Cup 2003 cricket tournament here yesterday. "Once I return to Delhi, I will make a personal request to BCCI to this effect," the legendary all-rounder said adding "the need of the hour is to encourage cricketers in J and K and help them come up to national and international levels by giving them special packages". Kapil was on a three-day visit to Jammu, where he also offered prayers at the cave shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi on Sunday. Bureau Report
