Kohima, Nov 08: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has decided to finance a project in Nagaland for development of sustainable tourism with active community participation. UNDP representatives told newspersons about the project worth one lakh US dollar at a two-day workshop on 'UNDP/WTO project on sustainable tourism development plan for Nagaland'.
The workshop underscored the need for harnessing eco, rural and cultural tourism in the state benefitting the community groups.
The workshop, which concluded today, also stressed on the need for protection and conservation of the fragile eco-system in the state and suggested the government to work out pragmatic schemes involving NGOs to attract tourists. Bureau Report
